Hello!

We visited your restaurant on Saturday, February 28th and I really wanted to write and tell you about our experience. My husband and I have made a tradition of going to a Brazilian Churrascaria on our anniversary. We like to think we know what makes a good one, and after trying a few in the Chicago area and northern Illinois where we live, we headed to Milwaukee for Sabor this year. We had run out of favorable choices in our area and an hour drive to Milwaukee seemed much more agreeable to us than an hour (or more) drive to downtown Chicago with questionable parking and high prices. It was our first visit to you, and am fairly certain this is our new location for our anniversary every year!

While many of the Churrascaria have similar fare, your salad bar still has some great unique choices, including those fantastic shrimp skewers and spring roll puffs. The cuts of meat are similar to what you will find at most Brazilian steakhouses, and while I liked your house specialty Picanah, I actually preferred the Alcatra, the top sirloin. What stood out was that the service was impeccable and very well-timed (at some restaurants we've been, two or three gauchos come at once and bombard you, then no one comes around for 15-20 minutes; here they are spaced well). The meat was always hot, and this was not always the case in our other restaurant experiences (where sometimes a gaucho would wander incessantly until meat was gone).

While many of the steakhouses have potatoes and bananas as a side dish, I could live on your potatoes; my husband and I were blown away how something so simple could be so amazing! The bananas are addictive and a great palette cleanser. Your staff was very attentive to side dishes running low, glasses that needed to be topped off and plates needing to be changed.

The décor really works without being trendy, and the lighting was bright without being glaring. All the other Brazilian restaurants we've been to were dark, and while romantic to a degree, made you feel more like napping than eating. The wine list had many unique selections, many of which we had never heard of. While they didn't have the Shiraz we usually like to get with our meat, we tried the Shaw & Smith Shiraz which was nice and fruity and not overly bitey. The dessert selection was nice, and the Brazilian milk cake was a knockout.

We were in great hands with Kelsey, though I'm sure your other servers are just as personable. I want you to know we truly felt welcome at Sabor, more so than just as patrons; it was really enjoyable. My husband even got to tour your wine room. It is quite rare for me to like a place enough to write, so I hope you appreciate how big an impression you made on us. We are so glad we made the drive to meet you and I know we'll be back again!

All the Best,
Jen K.
